About Dr. Beatty
Interventional Psychiatrist Specializing in Treatment-Resistant Depression, OCD, & Addiction
As a triple board-certified physician in Psychiatry, Addiction Medicine, and Pain Medicine, I specialize in the evaluation and treatment of complex psychiatric conditions, including treatment-resistant depression, anxiety disorders, OCD, and substance use disorders.
Many of the patients I see have struggled for years despite multiple prior treatments. They often seek a more comprehensive evaluation, a clearer diagnosis, and additional treatment options when standard approaches have not provided sufficient relief.
My goal is to identify the factors driving a patient’s symptoms and develop a personalized, evidence-based treatment plan. Depending on individual needs, treatment may include advanced psychopharmacology, TMS, Spravato®, ketamine-based therapies, psychotherapy, or a combination of approaches.
Bringing Advanced Psychiatric Care to Vero Beach
I began my career in academic medicine in my hometown of Philadelphia, serving on the faculty at Thomas Jefferson University, where I developed expertise in addiction treatment, interventional psychiatry, and the care of patients with complex psychiatric conditions.
As my practice evolved, I recognized the need for a more personalized and comprehensive approach than traditional healthcare systems often allow. In 2014, I founded Wave Treatment Centers to provide thoughtful, evidence-based psychiatric care and access to advanced treatments such as TMS, Spravato®, ketamine-based therapies, and specialized addiction treatment. What began as a solo practice grew into a thriving clinical team serving patients throughout the Philadelphia region.
After relocating to Vero Beach with my family, I brought that same commitment to physician-led, individualized care to Florida’s Treasure Coast. Vero Beach quickly became home, and we have been grateful for the warm welcome and strong sense of community we found here.
Today, my mission remains the same: to provide comprehensive psychiatric care, careful diagnostic evaluation, and advanced treatment options for patients seeking answers, relief, and a path forward. I am proud to bring the experience, training, and treatment approaches developed over years of practice in Philadelphia to patients throughout Vero Beach, the Treasure Coast, and through telemedicine in Florida and Pennsylvania.
A Personalized, Collaborative Approach
My approach begins with listening. Every patient brings a unique history, set of challenges, and treatment goals. Rather than focusing solely on symptoms, I work to understand the broader clinical picture.
Effective psychiatric care combines scientific evidence, clinical expertise, and a strong therapeutic relationship. My goal is to provide thoughtful, collaborative care that supports meaningful and lasting improvement.
Advanced Training & Clinical Expertise
My training includes fellowship work in addiction medicine under Dr. Joseph Volpicelli, a pioneer in the field, as well as advanced training in brain stimulation and neuromodulation under Dr. Mark George and Dr. John O’Reardon.
I previously served as a faculty attending physician at Thomas Jefferson University, where I taught medical students, residents, and fellows. I have also provided expert testimony before the Pennsylvania House of Representatives on addiction treatment policy.
Founder of Wave Treatment Centers
I founded Wave Treatment Centers in 2014 to provide comprehensive psychiatric care outside the limitations of traditional insurance-driven models.
This approach allows for longer appointments, more thorough evaluations, and highly individualized treatment planning for patients with complex or treatment-resistant conditions.
Treatment Philosophy
Psychiatric care should be guided by the individual, not the diagnosis alone. The goal of treatment is not simply symptom reduction, but meaningful improvement in functioning, relationships, and quality of life.
